Established in 1924, Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) empowers individuals and families to improve their quality of life and promotes community cooperation and support in responding to family needs. Immigration Legal Services (ILS) is one of their eight core service areas that provide a wrap-around approach to uncovering and eliminating barriers to independence for individuals and families in Northern Virginia. ILS provides multi-lingual, family-based, and humanitarian immigration legal assistance to refugees, survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and other vulnerable immigration populations.
“We currently have been serving about 1,700 clients each year and funding from the Virginia Law Foundation is critical to us being able to continue to have the staff to support those existing clients through their cases start to finish” said Sara Kreitzer, Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations for Northern Virginia Family Service.
